Netball 2010 First Semi Final   August 28, 2010

The first semi final played at Willaston on Saturday saw our little girls (Sub Jnr 3) play a terrific game.  Scoring 30 goals against South Gawler's 3 goals meant it was a bit of a one sided game, but the Tiger gals played really well as a team, which should stand them in good stead for the next final's game ahead in 2 weeks time.  Player incentives were awarded to Jamie Burdon and Natalie Lowes.  Congrats also to Chelsea Hogarth who notched up her 50th Junior game on Saturday.

Our Sub Junr 1 girls also played on Saturday and started the game off strongly, but couldn't quite hang in there to stay close enough, with South Gawler eventually slipping away with the win 19 to 39.  Player incentives were awarded to Tayla Cuy and Abbey Scheer.

Congrats also on the football side of the club to the A grade with their exciting 3 point win.  Good stuff!

The netball Kingsford Hotel Club Person(s) of the week was awarded to our 2 Primary (11's) coaches for their efforts in taking the team to participate in last Sunday's Association Carnival - well done Krystal and Rachael.  Thanks also to Michele for umpiring for the team for the day too!

Moving on to this week's 2nd semi final to be played at Angaston, we have 7 netball sides all vying for a place straight into the Grand Final
.  Courtside action starts at 9am with our Sub Jnr 2 side, followed at 11.30am with both our undefeated and Minor Premier teams, the Intermediate's 1 and 2.  Into the afternoon, at 1.15pm both the senior 4 and senior 6 teams take to the courts followed at 2.45pm with both senior 1 and senior 3.  Plenty to watch, so do come on by and show your support by cheering these teams on.

Another reminder that we are also looking for expressions of interest from anyone interested in coaching in season 2011.  Application forms are available from the club website, or please call Leanne on 0410 495 745 to discuss further.

Football 2010 First Semi Final  August 28, 2010

Saturday saw three of our teams play in the first Semi Final at Willaston with mixed results.

The day started with the under 15's playing against the South Gawler Lions. This game was always going to be a tight hard fought game and that was exactly how it turned out. With the highest margin all day being a couple of goals it was anyone's game right up to the final siren with a margin in favour of the Lions of 7 points. Coach Good was very proud of the way his young chargers fought the game out to the end and congratulated them on a very good season. Brad Dankiewicz was awarded the Hamra Homes best player award with Jason Gibson, Darian Ryles, Alex Crossley and Matt Good also playing very well on the day.

In the Reserves we started warm favourites against Nuri but never really got into the game. Nuri played fast attacking football and we let them set the tone early in the match and we struggled to gain any ascendency all day. Youngster Ryan (Pup) Wenham put his name back in front of the A grade selectors with a great game of the half back line as he continually tried to set something up for the Tiger forwards. Others to play well were David Sands, Chad Elson, Jason Turner, Joel Latimer and Tim Corneliusen.

It was left to the A's to try and put some respectability back into the day for the Tigers when they did battle with the Angaston Panthers. What a battle it was with the game going down to the last 30 seconds when Paul Bova kicked truly from 40 meters to give the Tigers a hard earned victory by 3 points. The game was, as most supporters expected it would be, tight and tough no quarter given or asked for by either side. Angaston looked to have the game won when they enjoyed a three goal lead well into the last quarter but the Tiger lads hung in there and wore them down to claim a great victory. Kirk Heberle playing most of the day in ruck had a game right out of the box and was clearly best man on the ground. Camo Williams showed everyone at the game the reason he won this years "Rookie of the Year Award" with a close checking game on the dangerous Craig Robinson. Clint Hill with 5 goals, Sean Brading who ran hard all day, Luke Howard superb in ruck and loose across half back and Shane Souter who did the job on man mountain Matt Duldig also played very well.

This week we can venture to Angaston and watch Tanunda and Barossa do battle in the A's with the loser to front the Tigers a week later at Nuri. We also have 7 netball teams playing on Saturday so get to Angaston and support the girls to get across the line

The club would like to wish one of our under 15's Michael James all the best this week as he under goes LARS surgery to repair an ACL he damaged playing football at school last week. Michael has a bright football future and we all wish him well in his recovery and hope to see him back at the Tigers next season.
