Friday night got the weekend off to a start when we headed up to Angaston on a chilly but clear night. Our Under 9 Black side played Angaston with player awards going to Oscar King, Dean Saunders, Ryan Menz and Cameron Vardy. The Under 9 Gold side played the second Angaston side and the awards went to Connor Assender, Cameron Kerr, Cody Pickering and Jayden Reed. The Under 11 Black side played Angaston Blue in an exciting game and awards went to J Balacco, W Schmidt, S Llewellyn, C Postill and Ryan Dieckmann. The Under 11 Gold played Angaston White with awards going to Harry Hutchins, Brayden Cave, Brodie McDonald, Brandon Barlow and Chelsea Linsell. Remember the juniors play on Friday night this week beginning at 6.30pm under lights – the canteen will be open so come down and watch these kids strut their stuff.

The Under 13’s got Saturday’s matches underway on the main oval. We saw the Tigers gain a hard fought victory after trailing at half time the Tigers kept the Panthers scoreless in the second half and ran out winners by 25 points against a valiant Panthers side. Better players for the Tigers were Ross Grady, Kye Demarchi, Tyler Kemp and Clayton Burrows.

Our Under15’s had their best game of the season so far but unfortunately just fell short of a victory by 6 points. The lads are getting there as the season goes on and gaining confidence every week. Coach Tagg is starting to see the hard training that the boys are doing is starting to pay off and is confident their first win for the year is not far awa.y Better players for the Tigers were Captain Brad Pilkington (having a great season), Josh Needham, Josh Denton, Connor Mannon, Liam Sutton and Cameron Tagg.

The Under 17’s continued on their merry way with a very impressive win against the 3rd placed Panthers side. The Tigers hit the ground running and never let the Angaston lads in the game. With 12 changes from the last side that represented the Tigers the lads played like they have been together for years. Dylan Pilkington played a blinder and is having a great season and was judged the Tigers best while others to play well were Hayden Reynolds, Trey Mason, Jamie Wegener, Cooper Slate and Nick Chandler.

Our other undefeated side, the Reserves also continued on their winning way with an emphatic win by over 100 points. The lads are playing some brilliant football and not giving the opposition any chance of getting into the game. Ben Walter continued his great start to the season with a plus 40 possession game from half forward and had he kicked straight could have kicked 10 goals instead of the 2 goals 9 points he finished with. He was judged the sides best player with Matt Pike, Reece Kalic, Adam Cox, Jon Hallion and Brandon Downie also playing well in an even team performance.

The A’s match started as was expected with a tight, tough first quarter which saw the Tigers up by 3 points at the first break. Coach Herzick was none too pleased at quarter time with the first quarter effort and left every player in the side in no doubt he was not happy. The second quarter saw the lads hit their straps and they started to get away on the scoreboard. The Panthers kicked the last 3 goals of the quarter to give them a sniff at the long break but that was as close as they got for the rest of the game. With winners all over the ground the Tigers never gave their opposition a look in after half time and ran out winners by 87 points. Jake Asher did the job on last week’s match winner for Angaston in Andrew Pech and was awarded the Tigers best. Others to play well were Craig Jamar (dominant all day in ruck), Brad Mercer (8 goals), Jason Blakemore, Joel Latimer and Paul Bova.
