The under 9’s started the weekend’s football on Friday night in perfect conditions for football with the u/9 Gold playing Willaston Red, the awards going to Jayden Reed, Luke Hutchins, Jett Poulish, Thomas Sheperds, Connor McAskill and Cody Pickering.
The u/9 Black played Willaston Blue with the awards to Jack Starr, Dean Saunders, Hayden Hanrahan, Emerson Massey, Ethan Williams and Corey Benwell.
The under 11’s Black defeated Willaston Blue and the awards went to Thomas Allen, Connor Holland, Cody Postill, Joshua Harris and Cooper Argent. The Gold side went down to Willaston Red with the awards to Seth Claxton, Kyua Reed, Brayden Cave, Chelsea Lindsell and Brandon Barlow.
The Under 13’s had another good game against Willaston 8.7 55 points to 2.3 15 points. The best were Lachlan Wilson, Micheal McInerney, Kye Demarchi, Xander Bates, Tyler Kemp and Ethan Herzick. The Goal Kickers were Jaye Mathews 2, Jake Niutta 2, Xander Bates, Lachlan Wilson, Shannon Willis and Tyler Kemp.
The Under15’s were ran over in the first quarter but settled down and won the last 3, but were too far down to get back in the game. The best players were Cameron Tagg, Brad Pilkington and Liam Sutton. The leading goal kickers were Zac Demarchi, Liam Sutton and Cameron Tagg all with 2 goals.
The Under 17’s took a quarter to shake off determined opposition but then ran away to post a big win. The best players were Lachlan Carter, Jamie Wegener and Dylan Pilkington. The leading goal kickers were Brodi Mathews and Kyle Giniotis with 4 each.
The Reserves had another good win, keeping their unbeaten run, with the best players being Ben Walter, Josh Edwards and Bryce Connole with the leading goal kickers also being Ben Walter and Josh Edwards with 2 each.
The A’s was an arm wrestle until half time, but then with a 6 goal to 2 goal third quarter we slowly took control of the game. The best player was Joel Latimer who had a purple night dominating both ends of the ground, Nathan Flynn continued his good form as did Tyson Foreman and Kyle Wurst. The leading goal kickers were Brad Mercer 5, Joel Latimer 4, and Paul Bova 3.
Special thanks to Willaston players and supporters for their support of the night game, and after the game in the GRC rooms. This match definitely showed there is a place in Gawler for night football.
