The playing year ended on Saturday with the Grand Final @ Kapunda with our Tiger’s represented in 4 netball games and in 3 of the football games – Great effort to have so many teams playing on Grand final day.
Our Inter 2’s went up against Willaston in a tight contest with scores very close throughout, but by game end it was all the Tiger gals way with final score 36 to 33. Fab stuff! Best On Court performance to our Anna Halliday. Well done !
Next, Inter 1’s who put in a great all-round effort to lead throughout the game against Angaston, ending their season as undefeated Premiers, with a great 39 to 35 winning score. Love your work. Best on Court : Amber James
Over on the oval the Under 17’s did battle with the Barossa Bulldogs and at half time it looked like the Tigers were going to do it easy as they had a comfortable lead but the Bulldog’s lads had other ideas and made the Tigers really work hard for the victory. In a tense last quarter our lads held on to win by 10 points by far the closest game they had all year. Jamie Wegener took out the medal as the best player on the ground with Kyle Hummel, Hayden Reynolds, Alex Robertson, Trey Mason and Adam Byster also playing well for the Tigers. The Under 17’s went through the season undefeated and the win Saturday was just reward for their hard work.
Back at the courts the Div 6 team took on South Gawler in a tough encounter in a game which saw the Tiger gals take control and edging away from their opponents to run out winners and Premiers in a 44 to 35 result. Best on court to our Elise Hillebrand. Congrats to all!
Final game played on Saturday was Div 5 versus South Gawler who proved too strong on the day with our Tiger gals unfortunately not the wining team. Congrats to you all on making it to a Grand Final spot – a proud achievement in itself!
We saw our Reserves come out against Nuriootpa in a pre-curser to the mainfootball match. After a very even first quarter the Tigers broke the game open in the second and third quarters piling on 10 goals while keeping Nuri scoreless. Aaron King and Kirk Heberle both played outstanding games kicking 6 goals each in the 79 point demolition. Kirk was awarded the best player on the ground medal for his efforts. Others to play well were Josh Edwards, Beau Mason, Tom Williams and Steven Gladigau.
In the A Grade we saw the best 2 sides in the Association do battle for the 2015 Premiership. Nuri jumped out of the blocks and our Tigers never really looked like catching them until the last quarter. Trailing by almost 10 goals at 3 quarter time, the last quarter we saw why our Tigers were so competitive all year when they outscored Nuri to finally go down by 29 points. Craig Jamar finished off a great season with a superb rucking exhibition to be named our best. Others to play well were Sean Brading (6 goals), Corey Solly, Charlie Molyneux, Jason Blakemore and Brad Hunt.
It was another great season for the Tigers on the football field with 2 Premierships and close to 200 players wearing the Tiger jumper every Saturday. We also had 3 players win Association medals and we had 4 selected in the BL & G Team of the Year, a great year indeed.
