Tiger Tales – 13 September 2015
Saturday’s Preliminary final games played saw the Tiger represented again both on the oval and at the courts – 4 netball games and in the main game of football.
Our Inter 2’s went up against Angaston in a game of two halves – with scores very close through the first half and the Tiger gals playing well together to stretch to a comfortable winning margin 45 to 32 by game end. Through to the Grand final for them now – Well done!
Also through to the Grand Final is the Div 5 team who toppled Freeling in a great ‘come-back’ game after being 5 down and winning 42 to 33. Top stuff!
Also playing on Saturday were both the Div 2 and Div 1 netball teams who both put up gallant efforts but were unfortunately not the wining team on the day. Congrats to you all on making it this far – still a proud achievement!
On Saturday night the Association’s annual Awards dinner was held with the Tiger gals coming away with the Intermediate Goal throwing trophy with 875 goals by our Inter 2 team and personal Best and Fairest awards going to Kate Burnett in Inter 2, Jenny Finlay in Div 4 and Shelby Smith in Div 2. Congrats to all.
We saw our A Grade footballers take on the Kapunda Bombers in the main game at Nuri on Saturday afternoon for the right to meet Nuriootpa in the final stanza for 2015 next Saturday at Kapunda. Right from the first bounce the Tigers never gave the Bombers a look in kicking the first 4 goals of the match in the first 5 minutes. From that point the Bombers were playing catch up football and never troubled the Tigers who eventually ran out winners by 92 points. Congratulations to Jason Blakemore (A Grade), Ben Walter (Reserves) and Adam Byster (Under 17’s) for winning their respective BL & G Association medals on Monday night. Also congratulations to Brad Mercer for winning the Association goal kicking plus on Saturday he passed the 100 goal mark for the second time in 3 years.
Onto this coming week for the Grand Final @ Kapunda where the club will be represented by Football A’s, B’s and 17’s and netball Intermediate 1’s and 2’s, Div 5 and Div 6 – should be a top day for the Tigers…. Do not miss it!! The Club will be open after the games until late with DJ playing, followed on Sunday with the 100 Club draw. A big weekend for the Club – all most welcome!!
