It was a case of round 16 last year repeating itself yesterday as we headed to Barossa when the maximum temperature was a toasty 11 degrees. Thankfully we avoided the hail that was predicted but that wind chill was tough – well done on getting through the day everyone! Hopefully that’s the end of those conditions as we head into our finals campaigns. We bid farewell to our Junior 1s through to Netta’s who played their last games for the 2019 season yesterday – you should all be very proud of yourselves & we can’t wait to see you ready to go next year.

It’s going to be a big 4 weeks of finals netball with our Senior 1 right through to Inter 2s predicted to take the court. It’s an awesome effort by the club to have 9 teams sitting pretty in the top 4 this year. Keep an eye out for our finals schedule, which will kick off with the 1st semi final at Willaston on August 24th. Enjoy the bye this Saturday before a busy month ahead.

Hopefully everyone received a copy of our Club Newsletter either last Saturday or via email during the week. Plenty of important dates to put in the calendar;
Junior Presentation Day – Sunday 18th August from 2pm to 5pm @ the main clubrooms
Intermediate Presentation Dinner – Tuesday 17th September 6pm @ the Kingsford Hotel
Senior Presentation Night – Friday 20th September @ the Nixon Centre

To top what has been a huge year of big milestone games we had 8 Tiger Gals reach milestone games this week. Congratulations to Senior 5 player Cassie Bolland & Intermediate 1 player Brianna Testagrossa who reached their 100th games. Well done to Jodie Rich-Nourse, Dayna Schmid, Joleen Scheepens, Sienna Haskard, Elyssa Herrmann & Ellie Griffiths who all played their 50th game on Saturday – congratulations girls!

Our final Kingsford Hotel club person of the week award goes to Bec Leahey, not only is Bec our club Treasurer but she also works tirelessly in the canteen every home game. If we’re ever short on a volunteer or it’s a busy time you can guarantee Bec will be the first one in there & the last to leave. Thank you Bec.

Thank you also to our weekly award supporters for their generosity with the incentive awards provided – Kingsford Hotel, Wohler’s, Anytime Fitness, Gawler Newsagency, Java Hut, Exchange Hotel, Gawler Cinema, Starplex, McDonalds, Fasta Pasta, Gawler South Bakery, Dominos

Each week the Gawler Central Football Club kindly donates 2 awards for the best player in 2 teams from the day; this week awards went to Stacey from Senior 4s & Cassie Bolland from Senior 5s. Thank you to the GCFC for donating this award each week this year!

Our social club committee is currently in full swing organizing our GCNC Senior Netball Trip for this year. We’ve created private Facebook events for both our accommodation & day trip options. We are finalizing numbers this week so if you’re interested in attending either please contact any of our social club committee members – the more the merrier everyone is welcome!

Senior 1 49 59 Dayna Schmid, Donna Victory Another strong performance under the post with the shooters hitting 90% accuracy. We were undermanned defensively but still managed to hold Barossa for 3 quarters which was great to see. With nothing riding on the result we used it as an opportunity for us to look at our own game plan heading into finals. Congrats to Dayna & Jodie on 50 games.
Senior 2 58 34 Pamela Warner, Rhiannon Norton Great game, everyone performed well. Good way to start our finals campaign.
Senior 3 65 27 Rachael Songer, Ellen O’Hennessey Good win in tough conditions, great way to finish the minor round. Now bring on the finals!
Senior 4 68 22 Stacey Taylor, Lisa-Marie Moloney A solid performance by all today, carried good momentum from last week into this week. Connections were frequent, full court defence pressure and a solid win. Top effort by all players in trying conditions. Let’s continue to bring this into finals.
Senior 5 67 18 Cassie Bolland, Casey Sharkey

Senior 7 46 16 Jess Kotsoglous, Shannon Solly Great last game! Bring on finals, amazing team game.
