It was just a light sprinkle of rain thankfully on Saturday when we were back for our second home game of the season taking on Angaston. Each week we are so thankful to the GCNC Committee & community for the work that goes into hosting a home game. To those that are there for the early morning set up, to those that are there for the pack up at the end. We appreciate the help from the players on Saturday who assisted with the pack up, it certainly made a difference with a few extra hands!

It was a special morning at the courts with the unveiling of a memorial plaque on one of the benches of Court 1 in honour of Becky Couzner. It is on Court 1 that Becky umpired & her sister Tegan plays as Co-Captain in the Senior 2’s so only fitting that her plaque will watch over us all every week & remembered always in our hearts.

Congratulations to Junior 1 player Madison King & Sub Junior 1 player Abbey Campbell who both played in their 50th club games on Saturday. Well done girls!

Thank you to Wohlers Furniture & Homewares for donating a ‘Wonder Woman of the Week’ award to be given to a player from one senior team each week. This week’s award goes to Senior 6 Hannah Bowden.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our GCNC Mum’s, we hope you have all had a really wonderful day. Thank you for all that you do to make sure we can play the game we love every week. Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day also to all those that have lost their Mum’s – you will all always be loved & remembered.

Senior 1 44 39 Cathy White, Dayna Schmid Highly defensive match but girls rallied and defused the physicality of Angaston with good timing & patience when it counted. Outstanding defensive effort by Cathy today – causing havoc in the Angaston goal circle.
Senior 2 48 28 Paige Miettunen, Alli King Great 4 quarter effort. Good to get our first win on the board.
Senior 3 72 12 Caitlin Hill, Erin Docherty Awesome 4 quarters even with different combinations, girls worked hard and came away with a massive win.
Senior 4 44 44 Ainslee Allen, Emily Truscott Great effort from all today, coming from 5 down in the last quarter to get up & draw was a great achievement. Everyone should be proud.
Senior 5 64 26 Jordan Bowley, Bianca Crothers An amazing game from the girls today hitting each target that was set. Loving the intensity.
Senior 6 73 23 Kylie Cooper, Imogen Bussenchutt Great passages of play down the court! A team effort by all. Thanks to Jess K for filling in!
Senior 7 NO GAME
Inter 1 36 33 Bree Hryhorec, Tyla Finaly Amazing effort & intensity from all players. We came back from being 6 down with the defence getting so many great turnovers & the attack applying a lot of pressure as well. Everyone kept calm & secured the win
Junior 1 48 38 Charli Herzick, Savanna Film The game was played with great intensity from the opposition which put us under extreme pressure. The girls had a very ordinary 3rd quarter & scores were level before they decided to pull away in the last. It was an exciting way to finish.
Junior 2 55 27 Sahara Challen, Ellie Daley Slow start today. But worked really hard to make sure everything went our way in the next 3 quarters. So impressed with our last quarters finishing off very strong! Well done girls.
Sub Junior 1 26 13 Maya Allester-Briggs, Steph Barnett A strong game across the court from the girls. They hit every individual & team goal that was set for them. Congrats to Abbey on 50 club games.
Sub Junior 2 35 4 Charlotte Jolly, Sophie Cormack The girls dominated from the first quarter even with a few injuries, they were able to change it up & still keep the momentum going. Great team work.
Primary 1 10 12 Layla Pratt, Taylia Parks Our girls played a great defensive game. So many great plays down the court. So very proud of how they all played.
Primary 2 8 0 Zoey Edge, Mikayla Gitsham Another great game from these little superstars. They continue working well together & are showing more hunger for that ball.
GO 1 Incentive Awards; Lara Trenowden, Matilda Oermann Good effort from the girls today. We had some really great defensive pressure & intercepts.
GO 2 Incentive Awards; Lucy Foreman, Tatum Zilm The girls had amazing defence today. Listened very well & improved quarter by quarter. They each played amazing in whatever position they were put in.
