Gawler Central Football Club has permanently recognised one of the most significant contributors in its history, officially naming its trainers and treatment room the Dr David London Treatment Room.
The naming was unveiled at Gawler Oval on Saturday, 15 August 2026, prior to the A Grade match against Nuriootpa, with players, officials, members and supporters present to recognise Dr London’s extraordinary contribution to the club.
A Gawler Central Life Member, having been awarded the honour in 2000, Dr London served as the club’s doctor for an remarkable 43 years, providing care, professional expertise and support to generations of Gawler Central footballers.
His contribution, however, has always extended well beyond the formal responsibilities of the role. Even after stepping away as Club Doctor, Dr London remained closely connected to Gawler Central and continued to make himself available to support the club and its people whenever needed.
A humble and generous servant of the club, his 43 years of service represents the type of contribution rarely seen in community sport. Across more than four decades, countless players, coaches, trainers, volunteers and families benefited from his knowledge, care and willingness to help.
Dr London’s impact has also extended far beyond football. Through his many years as a local GP, he cared for generations of people and families throughout the wider Gawler community, including many with strong connections to Gawler Central.
It was particularly fitting that Dr London was joined for the unveiling by his wife Sue and their daughter Louise, allowing the club to also acknowledge the support of the London family throughout such an extraordinary period of service.
For Gawler Central, permanently recognising people who have made an enduring contribution to the club is an important part of preserving its history. Clubs are shaped not only by the players who take the field or the premierships they win, but by the people who quietly give their time, expertise and care across generations.
Dr London’s contribution is an exceptional example of that service.
The Dr David London Treatment Room will now ensure his name and contribution remain part of Gawler Central for generations to come. It is especially appropriate that the room carrying his name is the same place where current and future Tigers will continue to receive the care and treatment that Dr London provided to so many before them.
Forty-three years of service to one football club is a remarkable legacy and a contribution that may never be replicated.
